Industry Commitment

RightShip was created to increase commercial advantages for quality-minded ship owners, managers, operators and shippers - and ultimately create safer seas.

The maritime industry and regulators will maintain negative pressure on sub-standard vessels and operators, and shippers who use them. But we must also promote ship safety through encouragement and commercial reward for those who choose to use quality vessels and operators. Many in the industry share these aims, as outlined in the Maritime Industry Charter on Quality.

A key problem, recognised across the industry, has been the lack of accessible, transparent data so shippers and charterers worldwide can identify and avoid substandard vessels. RightShip's system and services directly address this need.

RightShip is delighted to work with clients and partners globally who share these goals. We will continue to make sure our vetting system recognises organisations that demonstrate practical commitment to higher ship quality, such as audited 'preferred suppliers' and those accredited by Green Award.

RightShip keeps its subscription rates low for unlimited use of our online vetting system. We will continue to promote increased use of systematic vetting, to reduce industry acceptance of substandard vessels and promote the employment of quality ships, operators and crews.
Improving Marine Safety

Marine safety is a global issue. While huge strides have been made, many obstacles remain. These include a history of lack of transparency, different standards for recording information, the global scope of the industry, the lack of marine expertise in many organisations relying on shipping, and the pressure for rapid decision-making.

RightShip is focused on safer seas, and helping the industry avoid preventable incidents and problems. We aim to address some of the obstacles above, by condensing information, providing rapid and consistent analysis and advice, monitoring and complying with international standards, and bringing expert support within the reach of even the smallest business.
